Sand in the City

On Sunday we took a small road trip to Olympia.  We decided to check out “Sand in the City” since it was a completely free event!  Free parking and free admission and free activities for kids to do?!  SOLD!

So we took off early in the morning, stopped off in Gig Harbor for some yummy Qdoba, then trucked on down to Olympia.  Our kids both napped in the car, so we figured we’d have a good shot at both of them being in good spirits while there.  [though we were unaware that all four of us were coming down with a horrible cold!]

So we arrived, parked, and made the walke up to the event.  We LOVED it!  There were tons of really cool sand sculptures to look at and then literally TONS of activities for the kids.  We didn’t even have time to do them all because our littlest one threw a fit cause he didn’t feel well at all.  [he is patient zero and gave all of us whatever cold he had caught!]

just some of the cool things the kids got to play with while we were there and then the two things we purchased for C to take home.  the pirate necklace was a whim — it was only 50cents!  and the magnifying glass was so she could examine things closer outside and while we homeschool.  we’ve been looking at leaves and bugs lately [and we’re taking the kids to a bug museum while my husband is on vacation!], so this was a perfect purchase!

Fitness

Lets talk about what part of my life revolves around.

Fitness.

it hasn’t always.  lets be honest.  for 25 years of my life fitness was a low priority.  and then something just clicked.  it happened during my second pregnancy.  something in me decided that it was time to get it right.

so once I hit that 6 week mark after giving birth to my son, I started slowly working out.  I found Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels first.  they were a FANTASTIC lift off into the fitness world.  I worked hard and lost 20lbs.  I hit my lowest adult weight ever.  then I fell off the wagon.

3 months later I found Beach Body and my life has never been the same.  I’ve been on the Beach Body track since March.  I’ve lost a total of 30lbs and more inches than I can even summarize quickly.  I went from wearing a size 18 jeans to a size 12, a size XL shirt to a size Medium.  I had to buy new underwear and new bras — I’ve lost significant inches and it feels AMAZING.

the last 3 weeks have been hell for me.  first my allergies attacked me head on with a heat wave out here.  I was so tired I could barely function much less workout.  then I got a horrible cold.  I’m at the tail end of the cold and biting at the bit to get back to working out.  I was able to squeeze in two workouts in between my allergies and my cold, but I’m itching to get back to my workout routine.  I MISS it.  I miss Turbo Fire.  I miss feeling so good!  I’ve been losing weight still, but I feel bigger since I’m not working out everyday and I don’t like it.  this weekend I’m going to ease back into working out I believe.

Mornings

I love my mornings.

I love waking up.

taking my time to wake up and checking my interwebs.

showering.

getting dressed, blow drying my hair.

making breakfast for the kids.

making breakfast for me.

getting the kids up and dressed.

getting the rooms cleaned up.

beds made.

laundry started.

dog fed and walked.

dishes put away.

it takes me 3 hours from the time I wake up before I actually sit down to relax in the morning.

but I still love it.

it takes even longer if I work out in the morning.  then it’s about 5 hours before my butt will sit down again.  but it’s worth it and I love our routine.

I love it so much that on days  like today where I don’t get to have it, I miss it.  I love running errands, but I much rather run them in the afternoon.  I feel rushed when I have to do things in the morning.

Hello world!

Well, hello.

I’ve been missing having a blog.  A place to ramble.  A place to share things.  A place to come to when things are awesome.  A place to come when things superbly suck.  So here I am.  We’ll see how this develops as time goes on, but for now you can at least expect a few posts a week.
